Mayor’s Minutes: Osseo’s Duane Poppe
Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe talked with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about needs the city has and ways its trying to get the state to help.
“We’re a small town,” explained Poppe. “We have a facility need with our antiquated city hall, fire station, police station, (and) public works needs some additional work there, too.”
Poppe said the city has completed its assessment of specific needs and is working with state lawmakers to try to get part of any bonding bills that could pass this session. He also said the city wants some money to help pay for improvements to Central Avenue, including repaving.
Emerald Ash Borer Efforts
Poppe said Osseo continues its fight against emerald ash borer. City officials have done an assessment of trees affected by EAB and are treated what trees they can.
“There’s some we didn’t get to fast enough,” said Poppe. “Now, we’re in the process of understanding those and removing those as fast as you can to save what we have.”
