Mayor’s Minutes: Osseo’s Duane Poppe
Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe talked recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about the upcoming Lions Roar, which falls on September 5-6 this year.
“Always a great community event. You know, it really brings the community together, and also just people from the area, with alumni from the high school and everything else,” the full lineup of entertainment, vendors, and activities can be found on the Lions Club website.
The weekend will also mark the culminating celebration of the city’s 150th anniversary.
Poppe also talked about recent hires within the city, including a police investigator.
“That person then investigates all the things and really deep dive and try to get to the end of the criminal activity,” he explained. “In the past, the patrol officers would end up doing their investigations, as well, which would take them off the street and take up time.”
Poppe also said the city was close to hiring a new administrative assistant to work at the window in city hall. He said the human resources committee will make its recommendation to city council by the end of July.
The city will celebrate Night to Unite with one central event at city hall and at Boerboom Park across the street on Tuesday, August 5.
