Mayor’s Minutes: Osseo’s Duane Poppe
Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe talked recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about recent recognitions during city council meetings and a new position with city government.
Mayor Poppe talked about the recognition at the February 10 city council meeting of local bank teller Julie Salitros. She recognized a fraudulent check and that lead to the arrest of a “career criminal” on an array of charges.
“It was great,” said Mayor Poppe. “(She was) looking out for the community, not just the bank.”
At that same meeting, the city recognized longtime Osseo Police Department Reserve Officer Jon Grimm, who recently submitted his resignation.

13-Year Osseo Police Reserve Officer Jon Grimm was recently honored by the city after he resigned.
Poppe also spoke briefly about a recent partnership between the city and consulting firm J. Murphy and Associates to help write grants for the city.
“We’re small. We’re always looking for grant opportunities,” said Poppe. “With our staff so being taxed with the day-to-day activities, we thought it would be an additional layer of kind of support for them to see what opportunities are out there for grants and then be able to write those grant requests, for the water tower, for the parks, the things we’re trying to get done. It comes down to money.”
