Mayor’s Minutes: Osseo’s Duane Poppe
Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe talked recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about ways the city is working to enhance communication up and down the city’s main street. There was an EDA breakfast in late February, where the city invited business owners to meet with city staff and learn who was responsible for what at city hall.
“(We want to) continue to reach out to the business community and get feedback,” said Poppe. “How can we help them be successful?”
He said another goal of the meeting was to connect more business owners and “try to build up that core group of business owners to kind of help each other.”
The city continues to examine its infrastructure and facilities, with city hall being a big topic of conversation, said Poppe.
“Our top need right now is the police,” he said. “They’re just out of space: out of lockers, out of evidence storage, places to park cars. That’s one thing we’re trying to find a solution for.”
The city is even looking for state funding where and when possible to help pay for the improvements to both city facilities and even possible improvements to Central Avenue.
“It’s just one of those things that we need funding for it,” said Poppe.
