Mayor’s Minutes: New Hope’s Kathi Hemken
New Hope Mayor Kathi Hemken talked with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser recently about ways residents can jumpstart their spring cleaning.
April 1-11 is the time for Bulky Waste Pick-Up, when residents can put household trash items out on the curb for pick-up.
“Make sure you have your stuff out by the 7:00 in the morning,” said Hemken. “There will be some limits on what you can put out.”
For information, check out the Hennepin Recycling Group website for more.
The Maple Grove Yard Waste Site will also be open on April 1st. New Hope residents, along with those from neighboring cities, can drop leaves, grass, brush, branches, and other yard waste items free of charge with proof of residency.
There’s also a Special Materials Drop-off Event, also organized by HRG, at the Brooklyn Park Operations and Maintenance Facility (8300 Noble Avenue) from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Most items will be accepted for free, while others may require a small fee.
Visit HRG’s website for more information.
Hemken also reminded New Hope residents to get in their nominations for the city’s Good Citizenship award.
“It’s a way to recognize their neighbors for the good things they’re doing–any time that they’re doing anything with inclusion and equity,” she said.
Nominations are open until the end of March. You can fill out a form at city hall or nominate someone online.
