Mayor’s Minutes: New Hope’s John Elder
New Hope Mayor John Elder spoke recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about summer entertainment options in the city and about on-going water meter replacement.
Music in the Park
The New Hope Performance Center will host Music in the Park again this summer.
The remaining acts are:
July 9: Nathan Griner
August 6: The Walker Brothers Band
August 20 (10:00 a.m.): The Teddy Bear Band
August 27: Ruckus in the Bearibush
“We have food trucks there, the music’s free, and if people want to come in for dinner or something, the food trucks are there,” said Elder.
Aquatic Center
The New Hope Aquatic Center is open for the season, and has options for all age groups to enjoy.
“We’re looking to see how much better it’s doing than our previous aquatic area. When that closed, we were doing about 18,500 for the people,” said Elder. “Last year, we just about hit 50,000 people. We’re bringing people into the community. People are coming here and maybe going out to lunch. It’s bringing people into the city and that’s huge.”
Water Meter Replacement
The city is in the midst of replacing all water customers’ water meters.
“We ask all residents when they get the letter, please schedule a time,” said Elder. “It’s short, fast, quick, and painless. We’re very appreciate to all those that have done so already. We’re already at almost 1,000 meters replaced.”
