Mayor’s Minutes: Crystal’s Julie Deshler
Crystal Mayor Julie Deshler spoke recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about a slew of events in the city this spring.
Crystal Police Department will host an open house at its building on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Those in attendance will be invited to take self-guided tours of the K9 area, forensics lab, jail, and police training areas. The SWAT truck and other police vehicles will also be on display for photo opportunities.
The city is hosting its Arbor Day event and park cleanup at Sunnyview Park on Wednesday, May 7, at 5:30 p.m. Help plant a tree in the park, cleanup any trash or other debris, and have the chance to learn more about taking care of trees in your yard. You can also take home a variety of free trees thanks to Friends of Crystal Parks. Friends of Crystal Parks is also hosting a plant sale on Saturday, May 17 at Becker Park. Proceeds will go to the organization, which supports the beautification and maintenance of the city’s parks and open spaces. They are still looking for volunteers to help and for donations of plants for the sale. Find more information at friendsofcrystalparks.org.
Crystal Airport’s open house and fly-in event is back for Father’s Day weekend on Sunday, June 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be a pancake breakfast put on by the Lion’s Club and lots of aircraft on display, as well as city emergency vehicles for you to see.
