Mayor’s Minutes: Crystal’s Jim Adams
Crystal Mayor Jim Adams spoke recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about events coming up later this spring and summer in his city.
State of the City Address Online
Adams’ State of the City address this year was done as part of the city’s podcast series. You can listen to it here. In it, he talks about the accomplishments of the city and its leadership as he sees them: “Strong neighborhoods, strong financial policies, thriving business community, and being welcome and inclusive in our community,” Adams told Kiser.
He also spoke about the addition of a crime analyst for the police department.
“It’s going to make the police’s job much easier in terms of solving crime,” he said.
Adams also praised city council and staff for the past year’s budgeting process.
“I’d say our budget process was second-to-none,” he said. “Our council came together and asked some fantastic questions. We’ve got a really sound understanding of where we are as a city, and we look forward to moving forward.”
Busy Election Season
Adams mentioned that the city, like so many others, has a busy election season between now and November. There are several seats on city council up for grabs, including: mayor, Wards 3 and 4, and Section 1. Anyone interested in running can file by June 4.
Absentee voting for primary elections begins on June 28.
Citywide Garage Sale
Crystal’s Citywide Garage Sale is June 30-May 1 this year.
“It’s a great opportunity,” said Adams. “If you’ve been in town when that happens, there are tons of garage sale, it’s a great time to just go from one to another. You can find all kinds of treasures.”
