Mayor’s Minutes: Brooklyn Center’s April Graves
Brooklyn Center Mayor April Graves recently spoke with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about new businesses opening in the city, along with details about her recent trip to Washington, D.C.
Graves talked about Empire Foods moving its new Sun Foods store into the former Walmart building.
“It offers a mix of culturally-inspired food from Southeast Asia, Africa, and some Mideastern countries,” said Graves.
“It’s amazing how they used that space that used to be the Walmart,” said Kiser.
She also mentioned new restaurants that opened in the city, including 102 Boba Tea in the Shingle Creek area near Foot Locker and OGA Madam, which serves traditional African dishes.
Graves recently attended the National League of Cities conference in Washington, D.C., where she spoke on a panel as part of her role on a committee on public safety.
“I was able to speak…a little about the public safety work we’re doing in Brooklyn Center and also ways to bring different stakeholders to the table when you have those critical conversations,” she said.
