Golden Valley A Home For Artists
Art has found a home in Golden Valley, particularly at the city-owned Brookview Golf Course. Work from local artists is on a seasonal rotating display on the walls inside Brookview and at Golden Valley City Hall.
“It’s giving local artists the opportunity to show their work,” said City of Golden Valley Recreation Supervisor Brian Erickson. “We’ll take people from any place. We’ve had people from as far as Duluth that have submitted art and been selected to show here.”

Art from local artists is displayed inside Brookview and at Golden Valley City Hall on a rotating seasonal basis.
Anyone can apply to have their art on display and for sale in the city buildings.
Meanwhile, upstairs at Brookview, Michelle Basman and her friends have been gathering every Friday morning for years to work on their latest creations together. The group reserves a room from the city and works on a variety of different media–watercolors, mixed media, you name it–and talks about whatever is going on in their world.
“It’s a safe place. We chat, we laugh, we support each other through all sorts of things that happen in our lives. And we just look forward to Fridays,” said Basman, who lives in Minnetonka.
She said most members of the group would rather work in a community setting than alone at home.
“We came together because of art,” she said.
