City Improvement Projects in 2023
The city will improve Bassett Creek Park this year. Specifically, the disc golf course will be redesigned. There will be a new larger dog park in the northwest corner with large-and small-dog areas. New play areas are being built at Broadway and Welcome parks. New picnic shelters are being built at Broadway and Crystal Highlands parks. The south parking lot at the Community Center will be replaced and will include improved pedestrian access.
Neighbors recognizing neighbors award winners
The awards are part of National Volunteer Week from April 16 – 22. The city will honor its seventh annual neighbors award winners next month. The event is Tuesday, April 18 during the regular city council meeting.
Commission and board opportunities for Residents
There are openings in Parks and Recreation, Environmental Quality, Charter Commission, Crime Prevention Board and Blue Line Extension Advisory Committee. Visit crystalmn.gov to apply. The application deadline is April 30.
“So, if your skill set fits with that or if you’re interested in that that’d be a great place to serve, we would love to have you volunteer,” said Adams.
West Metro Fire Department – fighting hunger food drive
The West Metro Fire Department is collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations on Saturday, March 18 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Fire Station No. 3 in New Hope and at local markets around the city. Go to wmfrd.org for more information.
