West Metro Fire-Rescue Celebrates 25th Anniversary
The West Metro Fire-Rescue District is celebrating its 25th anniversary this July. Celebrate it with the fire department at an open house on Thursday, July 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fire Station No. 3 in New Hope. The open house will include fire and rescue demonstrations and displays, an obstacle course for the kids, food trucks, and more.
Adams said the West Metro Fire-Rescue District is a very busy department, typically responding to about 1,800 fire and medical calls every year in Crystal and New Hope.
City-wide Garage Sale
Crystal’s city-wide garage sale is coming up soon. This year’s sale will be held from Thursday, June 1 to Saturday June 3.
Register your sale on the city’s website by Sunday, May 21 to be included on the city’s map of sales. Adams said typically about 90 homes register each year. To register your sale, sign up through Crystal recreation.
Crystal Airport Open House
Once again, the Crystal Airport Open House will be held on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Start the day with a Belgian waffle breakfast in the morning. Following, there will be many activities including displays of historic planes, bounce houses for the kids, and more.
“We have different airplanes and helicopter rides available, flyovers, all kinds of celebration. It’s a great day to get out,” said Adams.

Friends of Crystal Parks Plant Sale
The Friends of Crystal Parks Plant Sale is Saturday, May 20 at Becker Park. The sale supports Crystal’s parks and open spaces. There will be hundreds of plants to choose from and free compost.
“We’re looking for volunteers. Bring in your plants for exchange,” said Adams.

Crystal Cove Opens June 10
Crystal Cove Aquatic Center will open for the summer on Jun. 10 and will be open until Aug. 20. Season passes are available now for the early bird rate until May 29, and then after for the regular rate.
“We have a zero entry pool there…and it’s got the regular pool as well,” said Adams. “And we’re excited to have that ready to go.”
Other pool features include the water walk, waterslides, lap pool, and more.
