Boston Scientific Plans to Add New Maple Grove Building
Boston Scientific is not only the largest employer in Maple Grove, it’s the largest of its kind in the northwest suburbs. Now, the medical device company is proposing a significant building expansion.
Located near Interstate 94 and Weaver Lake Road, Boston Scientific plans to construct a fourth building on its Maple Grove campus. A two-story, 76,000-square-foot building will be constructed on existing parking space, coinciding with a previously approved campus parking expansion. The Maple Grove Planning Commission will review the plans Monday night.
A skyway will attach the new building to the existing ones. According to Maple Grove city officials, the new space will allow increased production of an existing product. The Massachusetts-based company currently manufactures that product in the middle of the three existing buildings, or Building 2.
“It’s a very significant expansion in terms of the production space that Boston Scientific is going to have,” said Brett Angell, Maple Grove’s economic development manager. “The new building is primarily going to be used as production area for the manufacturing of their products.”

City documents show that manufacturing of a new product will eventually take over Building 2.
Boston Scientific is currently home to about 45 hundred employees in Maple Grove. The new building won’t increase the number of employees immediately, but the company could add jobs a few years down the line.
“It’s a very significant business for the city,” said Angell. “It’s really great to see their expansion and continued investment within Maple Grove.”
