Cities Producer
Rusty Ray comes to CCX Media with more than 20 years of news and television production experience. Rusty worked previously for North Metro TV in Blaine and for WCCO Radio in Minneapolis as a news anchor and reporter. Before that, he spent 14 years as a reporter and anchor at WBTW, the CBS affiliate in Myrtle Beach, SC.
He spent time covering all kinds of stories with some memorable characters–everything from hurricanes, snowstorms, and COVID-19 to NASCAR races, political debates, and stories with veterans of all ages. Rusty has interviewed people like Dolly Parton, Guy Fieri, the late Sen. John McCain, Stephen Colbert, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and even got made fun of on live TV by Pauly Shore. But what he prefers to do is find people who have a remarkable story to share and use those stories to inform and help the community whenever possible.
Rusty and his Minnesota-born wife, Sarah, both attended University of Maryland (Go Terps!) and they live in the north metro with their daughter, son, and their dog, Chippie.
