The Champlin Park volleyball team lost its bid for a state championship Saturday, losing in five sets to top-ranked and top-seeded Lakeville South.
The Rebels, ranked second in the state and seeded second for the Class AAAA tournament, lost the first two sets- 25-16 and 25-17- before rallying to win the third and fourth sets 25-14 and 25-20.
In the fifth and deciding set Lakeville South broke a 3-3 tie and stayed ahead the rest of the match to win the program’s first-ever state championship.
