Totino-Grace wins Class A state soccer title
After winning the Northwest Suburban Conference against all Class AA teams, the Totino-Grace boys soccer team was well tested coming into the state Class A tournament. The top-seeded Eagles finished a superb season in style Thursday, beating No. 2-seed St. Thomas Academy 1-0 in the championship game. Steevenson Lamarre scored the game’s only goal on a header early in the first half, and the Eagles made that lone goal stand up as the game winner. It’s the third state championship in boys soccer for Totino-Grace. The others were in 2002 and 2004. Lamarre was joined by teammates Herbert Endeley and Collin Matzoll on the Class A all-tournament team.
