Osseo Boys Basketball Wins 5AAAA Title
The Osseo boys basketball team won the Section 5AAAA championship, edging rival Park Center 61-57 in the final Friday night at Rogers High School. The teams had split two regular season meetings.
Park Center jumped to the early lead before Osseo got its offense going to surge in front. Park Center scored the final four points of the first half to take a 30-29 lead into halftime.
The Pirates also started the second half strong, and pushed their lead to six. Osseo came back and the teams traded leads for much of the stretch run before Osseo made some key plays to go up 53-47. Park Center got back within two in the final minute, but on a night when both teams struggled from the free throw line, Osseo’s Johnson Fallah went five-for-six in the second half to help seal the win.
Fallah and Richard Mulbah had 13 points for the Orioles, with Zach Theisen adding 12 and Emmette Page 11.
Jarius Cook had 23 points to lead Park Center, with D.J. Purnell adding 11.
It’s the 10th section championship for Osseo in boys basketball. The Orioles play Eden Prairie in the state class AAAA quarterfinals Wednesday at noon at Target Center.
