Maple Grove’s Thompson Wins State Wrestling Title

Maple Grove sophomore wrestler Joey Thompson capped off an outstanding season in style Saturday night by winning a state title.
Thompson, who was ranked number one coming into the postseason, won the class AAA 106-pound title by beating Paxton Creese of Shakopee 6-3 in the championship match to finish the season undefeated.
Thompson is the first state champion in Crimson wrestling history.
