Maple Grove’s Sam Renner Signs with Los Angeles Rams
Maple Grove High School graduate Sam Renner signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams this week. Though he wasn’t selected in the seven rounds of the NFL Draft he did agree to terms with the Rams shortly after the draft ended Sunday.
Renner was a walk-on football player at the University of Minnesota and started all 13 games for the Gophers as a senior. The redshirt senior defensive lineman recorded 43 tackles as a senior, 8 1/2 tackles for loss and five sacks in 2019.
Renner said he heard from multiple teams and believed the Rams were the best fit for him. He will continue to work out at home on his own and learn the Rams playbook electronically and participate in Zoom meetings with team personnel until players are allowed to travel
