Maple Grove Girls Soccer Loses to Rogers
Defending state Class AA girls soccer champion Maple Grove lost its season opener on Monday, falling 1-0 to Rogers.
Izzy Smith’s goal late in the first half proved to be the only goal of the match.
Rogers goalkeeper Edie Frantzen made several big stops to preserve the shutout.
It was the first match of the season for the two Northwest Suburban Conference teams.
Rogers plays at Park Center Wednesday while Maple Grove travels to Centennial.
