Maple Grove Girls Soccer Knocks off Minnetonka
The Maple Grove girls soccer team knocked off defending state class AA champion Minnetonka 2-0 Tuesday.
The victory in the state quarterfinals avenged a state tournament loss to the Skippers last fall for the Crimson.
After a scoreless first half on a blustery night at North St. Paul High School, Maple Grove scored twice in the second half.
Maple Grove now meets Champlin Park in the semifinals Monday morning at 8:00 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Crimson and Rebels tied during the regular season.
Three of the four teams remaining in class AA are from the Northwest Suburban Conference.
Centennial joined Maple Grove and Champlin Park in the semifinals.
