Maple Grove Girls Basketball Beats STMA
The Maple Grove girls basketball team beat St. Michael-Albertville 69-58 to win the Section 8AAAA title.
It was a rematch of last season’s section final, which Maple Grove also won.
This year the top-seeded Knights were the favorite, but a young Maple Grove squad has improved a lot this season.
The Crimson got off to a strong start, leading 20-7 in the first half before STMA rallied to within six.
Maple Grove closed strong after the Knights battled back to tie it, outscoring STMA 24-13 down the stretch.
Maple Grove will make its fifth state tournament appearance.
