Maple Grove Falls in Section Girls Hockey
After playing in the past two Section 5AA title games, the Maple Grove girls hockey team hoped to get back again this season.
They split two games with Blaine during the regular season, and the third meeting figured to be a good one.
After a scoreless first period, Blaine took a 2-0 lead in the second period on goals by Morgan Reimann and Rachel Lentner. Maple Grove’s Lauren Stenslie scored to pull the Crimson within 2-1 after two.
Blaine though scored the only goal of the third period to eliminate the Crimson 3-1.
Blaine plays Centennial for the Section 5AA title Friday.
