Maple Grove Battles Past Elk River in Girls BB Playoffs
The Maple Grove girls basketball team was challenged but survived an upset bid to beat Elk River 41-33 in the Section 8AAAA quarterfinals Tuesday at Maple Grove High School.
The game was a rematch of last Friday’s regular season finale.
Maple Grove is the number two seed in the section and Elk River was number seven, but a low-scoring first half saw the teams tied at 16-16.
Maple Grove was able to build a lead in the second half and they secured the win.
Katrina Theis scored 15 points to lead the Crimson.
They’ll face Moorhead in the section quarterfinals Saturday.
