Hopkins Grad Mailhot added to Gophers’ Basketball Staff
Hopkins High School graduate Jeff Mailhot is the newest assistant coach on the University of Minnesota men’s basketball staff. Mailhot has previous college coaching experience at Iona and New Mexico State.
Mailhot played at Hopkins, graduating in 2000 with Jeff Hagen and Zach Puchtel who both played for the Gophers. He later was an assistant high school coach at both Hopkins and Cooper.
Gophers’ head coach Richard Pitino says Mailhot “has a great understanding of Gopher basketball… We are excited to add Jeff to our staff.”
Mailhot fills a vacancy on the coaching staff when Rob Jeter became the head coach at Western Illinois last month.
