Hopkins Blanks Maple Grove in 6AAAA Baseball
The Hopkins baseball team slugged three homeruns on the way to blanking Maple Grove 10-0 in six innings in the teams’ Section 6AAAA tournament game.
Jake Perry led off the third inning for the Royals with a homerun to give Hopkins the lead for good.
The Royals scored four runs in the third and fourth innings and single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Jack Mausser and Luke Nordean also homered for the Royals (14-8). Nordean’s homer leading off the bottom of the sixth inning ended the game on the mercy rule.
Hopkins now faces St. Louis Park in the winner’s bracket final Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
Maple Grove (15-6) plays Armstrong in an elimination game Wednesday afternoon at Hopkins.
