Haakenson named National Player of the Year
Meredith Haakenson of Maple Grove was recently named National High School Scholar All-America Girls Player of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches Association.
Haakenson was an all-state player for Maple Grove High School and helped lead the Crimson to the state tournament for the first time in school history last fall.
She played four years at Maple Grove and is headed to the University of Michigan later this month.
