Dudley Classic Softball Has New Twists
The 36th annual Dudley-Budweiser Classic softball tournament has a few new twists this year.
The Brooklyn Center based tournament has a new director as former player Scott Brown replaces Warren Bellm, who retired.
There is also a women’s division for the first time this year, with five Minnesota teams and five out of state squads.
The 26-team men’s field doesn’t include any Major teams this time, but a great field of Class AA and A teams.
The Thursday night kickoff includes men’s and women’s all-star games, a home run derby and hall of fame game.
It also for the first time will include a high school all-star game as Maple Grove and Champlin Park players will battle.
Tournament action runs Friday through Sunday, with Centennial Park in Brooklyn Center the main site.
