Champlin Park’s Chaney Neu Scores Perfect 10
Champlin Park High School sophomore Chaney Neu scored a perfect 10 on her vault Saturday, becoming the first gymnast do record a 10 on any event in the 45 years of the Minnesota state gymnastics meet.
Neu’s 10, combined with her wins on the uneven bars (9.7125), balance beam (9.675) and floor exercise (9.7125) gave her an all-around score of 39.1 to win her third straight state all-around title. The 39.1 is the highest all-around score at state since 1999.
Nadia Abid of Maple Grove finished third on the balance beam (9.55) and Hopkins’ Ciboney Reglos finished 10th on the beam (9.3625) for the only other local top ten finishes.
