Champlin Park Wins Section Gymnastics
After a couple of months of practice and meets, local gymnasts had to be at their best for the Section 5AA meet.
Champlin Park continued a strong late-season run by scoring a season-high 147.65 points to win the team title.
Maple Grove (146.025) was second and Wayzata (142.425) was third.
Wayzata’s Grace Traenor won the all-around title with a score of 38.35. She was balance beam champion as well.
Maple Grove’s Nadia Abid was second in the all-around with defending state champion Chaney Neu of Champlin Park third.
Neu won the floor exercise, vault, and uneven bars.
The state meet is next Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
