CCX Sports Year in Review: Wayzata and Maple Grove Volleyball
A shortened season due to COVID-19 didn’t stop the Wayzata and Maple Grove volleyball teams from creating some thrills.
The teams were both undefeated when they met in the final match of the season before high school sports were halted because of the virus.
The Wayzata Trojans were stacked with young talent after graduating several key seniors from their 2019 state championship team.
They enjoyed another great season and finished ranked number one in Class AAA after defeating Maple Grove in that last match.
For the Crimson, it was a veteran team with some young talent mixed in.
They had perhaps their best season ever, winning the Northwest Suburban Conference title.
The season ended abruptly but it was still a memorable run for the Trojans and Crimson.
