Breck scores OT win over Orono in 5A girls hockey
With archrival Blake now in Class AA, the path to state appeared to be a little easier for the Breck girls hockey team. The Mustangs scored their second goal of the night to take a 2-0 lead with about nine minutes left in the third period of their Section 5A final against Orono Thursday night. Orono came on strong though, tying the game with under 40 seconds left in regulation. Breck recovered from the stunning turnaround to net the game winner early in overtime as Ally Qualley’s goal sent the Mustangs back to the state tournament for the first time since 2012.
