Benilde-St. Margaret’s Softball Loses in State Quarterfinals
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s softball team lost 6-1 to Chisago Lakes Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the state Class 3A tournament.
The Red Knights scored first on a run-scoring single by Caitlin Culbert in the second inning but could not score again.
The Wildcats took the lead in the third inning scoring four runs, three of them unearned.
Anna Zaruba drove in two runs for Chisago Lakes.
Pitcher Ashley Mandell allowed no earned runs and struck out seven to earn the win.
The Red Knights bounced back to beat Rocori 10-0 in five innings and will play for fifth place Friday morning.
