Woman Stopped at Red Light Shot At Brooklyn Park Intersection
Victim’s Wounds Non Life-Threatening, Police Say the Drive-By Shooting Wasn’t Random
A woman sustained non life-threatening injuries after she was shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting early Tuesday in Brooklyn Park.
According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting at 2:38 a.m.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of County Road 81 and 85th Avenue North.
Police say the victim was driving northbound on County Road 81 when she stopped at a red light.
A suspect pulled up in another vehicle and began firing gunshots at the victim.
Several bullets stuck the vehicle and one round struck the victim in the leg. Police say the woman sustained non-life threatening injures and was transported to the hospital. She has since been released.
After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene.
Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Elliot Faust said that investigators don’t believe the incident was random.
Police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
The shooting comes after a violent weekend in Brooklyn Park. A man was fatally shot outside Flava of Soul restaurant and police cleared two large disturbances from city parks.
