What’s Next for Maple Grove Community Center?
Residents got to share their ideas for what should happen next at the Maple Grove Community Center. The facility has been open since 1997 and currently serves 40,000 more people now than it did back then. As the city looks to renovate and possibly expand the building, they hired an architectural firm to gather input from the community before drawing up plans.
A representative of the firm says right now, it’s a blank slate.
“There has been absolutely nothing that’s been decided,” said Victor Pechaty, an architect from HGA Architects and Engineers. “Nothing is predetermined. This is grassroots. One of the very first steps is finding out how the users of this building and the citizens of Maple Grove feel about their community center.”
Ideas discussed at the Open House on August 29 included increased space for a senior center, a possible curling rink or new space for exercise.
