Weekend Showcase: Virtual Tour of Bonnie Folkerts’ Exhibit at Hopkins Center for the Arts
Hopkins Center for the Arts has new exhibits up, but you can only see them virtually right now.
There are 24 paintings on display that are acrylic paintings of animals. The title of the show is “Common Threads” by Bonnie Folkerts.
“We’ve got Minnesota wildlife and the section she calls safari that has more exotic animals and then farm life,” explained visual arts manager Jim Clark. “They are almost all closeups. She’s inspired by Albrecht Durer and Georgia O’Keefe.”
Clark goes on to say that the focus on the eyes enhances the sense of connection between the viewer and the animal.
You can check out a full virtual tour online, and there’s a still image gallery with information on each piece and the price too.
