Weekend Showcase: Theatre Elision’s “Ruthless”
This weekend you’ll be able to attend the first ever production in the brand new Theatre Elision in Crystal. Audiences are in for a double treat being able to enjoy a new show in a new theater.
“We’ve been bouncing around a lot at Theatre Elision,” said Lindsay Fitzgerald, director. “We’ve gone to several different theaters around the area and now to have a home base that kind of caters to everything that we’ve picked and chosen from. It is really nice.”
Their first show is “Ruthless,” an all female musical about an extremely precocious 8-year-old girl named Tina whose main desire in life is to be an entertainer and absolutely knows she was born to play the lead of “Pippi Longstocking” in her school play. But she doesn’t get the part.
“So Tina, played by Bethany McCade, she takes some drastic actions. And she’s the understudy which means if anything happens to the lead she gets to go on,” said Greta Grosch, who plays Tina’s grandmother.
Tina’s mother, Judy, played by Christine Wade, suspects Tina had something to do with the accident that befell the child playing the lead role.
“Ruthless” runs through Sunday, July 21 at Theatre Elision in Crystal. For show times and ticket information go to the Theatre Elision website.
