Weekend Showcase: Robbin Gallery’s Botanical Printmaker Exhibit
Linda Snouffer is a botanical print-maker with work displayed at the Robbin Gallery through February 1. The show is called “Off Road Traverse.”
“I use water-base printers ink to make the plant images in my work,” explains Snouffer.
As a botanical print-makers, she applies ink on a plant and then presses the plant on to a prepared surface. What’s left behind is the image you’ll see. She’s inspired by prairie grasses and you will see that reflected in her work.
“I went to the prairie probably six or seven times during the summer,” said Snouffer. “I collected grasses and other kinds of plants.”
Each time, Snouffer took notes and pictures to document the weather, lighting and season. Most of the pieces are a snapshot of the kind of day Snouffer experienced when she harvested the plants.
Some of the art is multi-layered and complicated. She will be at the Robbin Gallery to explain the process behind her work on Saturday, January 18 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
