Weekend Showcase: Nordic Ski Opener Set for Dec.11 at Elm Creek Park Reserve
If you are looking for something to get you into the winter season, may I suggest the Elm Creek Park Reserve. The Three Rivers Park District will hold the Minnesota Nordic Ski Opener at that location on Saturday, Dec. 11. Last year’s event did not occur due to the pandemic.
“The minute you turn that corner into the park, and you’re driving down there, the snow guns are going, you’ve got snow coming from up above and it looks like a winter wonderland,” said Karl Huemiller, Three Rivers Parks District volunteer.
The snow making began over the Thanksgiving break.
The Minnesota Nordic Ski Opener will take place Saturday, Dec. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day includes free ski lessons and free ski rentals, as well as a group ski for adapted skiers. For more details, click here.
