Weekend Showcase: Lawn Bowling at Brookview
When you think Brookview in Golden Valley you might think beautiful golf course, and rightly so. But Brookview has a beautiful new lawn bowling green too.
“It’s for everybody. We’ve got juniors out here, ages 3-4 years old, all the way up to grandma and grandpa too,” said Brett Johnson, assistant golf manager at Brookview.
“It’s relaxing and it’s easy to do, no pressure. It doesn’t get into your head like golf does,” said Deb Russell, who was out with a group on a corporate outing.
The objective of lawn bowling is pretty easy. Roll your balls as close as possible to a smaller ball called a jack.
There are always friendly instructors around at Brookview, like Jordan Norcutt, to answer questions about rules or settle disputes about distance from the jack.
“It’s the best way to spend time with co-workers,” said Norcutt.
You reserve a lawn bowling rink just the way you would make a tee time and don’t miss your chance to try lawn bowling for free.
The last Friday of every month from 6 to 9 pm it’s free. There’s no reservations and is first come first served.
