Weekend Showcase: Hopkins Center for the Arts Member Exhibition
The members of the Hopkins Center for the Arts have two shows a year. You can see one of them right now.
“We have two member exhibitions per year. The juried show and the non-juried show,” said Jim Clark, visual arts manager at The Hopkins Center for the Arts.
For this exhibition all entrants had to be Hopkins Center for the Arts members and their entry had to be done recently within the past two years.
“We had 158 entries this year. And of those then, the jurors evaluated and selected 56 for display,” said Clark.
Beautifully arranged
As visual arts manager, one of Clark’s responsibilities is to determine exactly where each piece of art is displayed. You could call that an art form in and of itself, with the balanced exhibits creating flow and direction.
“There were nine award winners from best of show down to honorable mentions. But there’s also Peoples Choice Award so visitors can vote on their favorite,” said Clark.
The award winners are worthy. However, you may find your favorite to be very different from the judges.
“It’s a very solid exhibition of terrific work representative of a wide range of styles and mediums,
said Clark.
You can see the show from now through Nov. 27, seven days a week in Hopkins.
The Hopkins Center for the Arts is located at 1111 Mainstreet, Hopkins, MN 55343. Additionally, hours are posted at the bottom of its home page.
