Weekend Showcase: ‘Circular Migrations’ Opens at Robbin Gallery
A new exhibit has opened at the Robbin Gallery in Robbinsdale. “Circular Migrations” by artist Polly Norman will be on display through Oct. 2. Norman’s latest work mixes vibrant colors with geometric shapes and lines.
“I love circles and tons of color,” said Norman. “I like them because they kind of come alive.”
Norman, a native of south Minneapolis, has experience in portrait and fine art photography, dance, and abstract painting.
“I did portrait photography and started to do fine art photography,” she said, “and then I mixed in digital with they photography. And then finally I did just digital.”
Norman creates all images from scratch. She doesn’t start with an image or photograph. In a sense it’s like painting in that each piece begins with a singular dot, movement or stroke.
“I really love design,” she said. “With abstract work hopefully they can find something they can relate to.”
Gallery hours are 5-8 p.m. Thursdays and 1-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
