Weather Delays Brooklyn Blvd. Construction Project
A Brooklyn Center road construction project his causing traffic headaches. Now there’s delays.
“Based on the rain that we had in September, it’s kind of delayed it,” said city engineer Mark Albers.
Reconstruction of Brooklyn Boulevard began last year. The sounds of heavy machinery are becoming familiar to people who live or navigate through this area.
“It’s taking too long,” said one driver. “But it will be nice when it’s done.”
Construction will improve Brooklyn Boulevard
Brooklyn Center officials say the headaches and hassle will pay off when the road is done. Crews are improving traffic signals and adding safety features along a nearly one and a half mile stretch of Brooklyn Boulevard.
“We did partial utility replacements, new storm sewer, and additional landscaping and streetscaping enhancements on the corridor,” explained city engineer Mark Albers.
Drivers bob and weave their way through the orange cones. Drivers sometimes only can drive in one lane. One driver told us it’s scary because you never know how the conest will change from one day to the next.
Brooklyn Center officials are asking motorists to be patient and careful in the construction zone. Most of the work will be complete early November.
