Wayzata HS Senior Named U.S. Presidential Scholar Semifinalist
A Wayzata High School student is on the verge of achieving a rare academic feat. Senior Jack Ross is a semifinalist for the U.S. Presidential Scholars program.
Each year, only up to 161 students are named presidential scholars. It is one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.
“Once I got the semifinalist status I was very surprised,” said Ross.
He then offered advice for younger students.
“Have confidence in your grades, have confidence in your test scores, have confidence in your extracurriculars and things you do outside of school and the service you put into your community,” he said. “Because you never know if this could be you one day in my seat in this position.”
Ross is expected to find out if he’s selected by the end of May.
If chosen, he would visit the White House for a dinner with President Joe Biden later this year.
