Wayzata High School Marching Band Prepares for Plymouth on Parade
What’s a parade without a few marching bands?
Several local high schools are participating in the parade. We caught up with the Wayzata High School Marching Band as they prepared to march down the parade route.
“I love my band. It’s just our size and our volume,” said percussionist Lennon Gust.
The Wayzata Trojans are mighty in spirit and numbers. There are more than 200 members in marching band. Students practice every school day during the semester.
“I hope when people look at our band they see the great discipline, the great intensity our musicians have,” said Band Director David Elmhirst. “We’ll have at least two songs for our parade repertoire. We’ll play our school song, and we’ll also play the Dobbie Brother’s classic, “Taking it to the Streets.”
The band is excited to show off their talents at Plymouth on Parade.
“It’s really cool hearing everyone cheering us on, laughing when we do the cadence, and clapping along to the school song,” said Flutist Emma Reed.
