Watch Out Below! No School Day Means Sled Day
Some local students got to sleep in on Tuesday, thanks to Mother Nature. It was the first snow day of the school year and that had a lot students giddy. Tyson Scott and Grace Bruins of Crystal spent the day building a snow fort. They used their hands and shovels to craft their project.
“You can just shovel and then throw the snow everywhere, and then when you’re done, you can build forts and a snowman out of everything,” said Tyson Scott.
“It’s just fun, because you’ve got to have team work to do this and you’ve got to have communication,” explained Grace.
Other students decided to add a little more action to their unexpected day off by going sledding. Valley Place Park in Crystal was packed with people hitting the sliding hill. The kids say the faster, the better. There’s even a huge jump for those who like to kick things up.
“We tried to go down, but we couldn’t make the jump,” said Nora Fry.
They came prepared for fun and it didn’t matter if they had proper sledding gear or not.
“We came to the snow hill with summer inner tubes,” laughed Ben Webster. “And does it work? You betcha!”
