Volunteers Don’t Let Disabilities Stop Them from Giving Back

For nearly a decade, Dan Sadoff has been delivering food to residents as part of the Meals on Wheels program. 

“He is dependable, he is very focused when he delivers, he takes great pride in what he does,” said Meals on Wheels client coordinator Sarah Boggess.

Bogess says Sadoff volunteers more than anyone else, despite his disability. Jessie Carvell is also giving back by volunteering at The Birches at Trillium Woods in Plymouth. Carvell mainly helps seniors with activities.

“There’s a couple challenges because I have a disability and there’s certain things I can and can’t do but I’ll try to work around it,” said Carvell. 

Reach for Resources, a local nonprofit, helped Carvell and Sadoff land the volunteer positions.
