Update: Hennepin County Libraries Accept Book Returns, Open New Curbside Locations
Hennepin County libraries that have existing curbside locations are ready to accept book returns starting Monday, June 22.
The county currently has eight curbside locations including Brookyn Park, Maple Grove, Plymouth, Ridgedale, and Rockford Road. Six curbside locations, which includes Brookdale, will be added in the next three weeks.
Josh Yetman with Hennepin County Library said they’re also looking to create some computer by appointment models.
“We know that one of the things people really depend on libraries for is the ability to get in, sit down and use the internet,” Yetman explained.
However, there is no date yet on when library buildings will reopen for normal services.
“We’re not quite sure when it’s going to be safe for us to resume that kind of service. But we are trying to get as many services as possible including grab and go,” said Yetman.
Yetman wants to remind people that there is no urgency to return books right now.
“All the due dates are still being auto extended, so there are no material due at this time. But we know some of you have been holding books for quite some time now and you’re really anxious to get them out of you home,” Yetman said.
