United Properties Proposes Business Park Plan in Golden Valley
United Properties wants to redevelop a site at 6300 Olson Memorial Highway into two buildings that would create a business center. The building on the site has been vacant since 2016.
The plan calls for building a business park that would support light manufacturing and warehousing needs. The current building would be torn down and two buildings would be built that would create a business center.
“We really believe the market has spoken and said there’s primarily, the greatest demand for this site today is an industrial use with a new building and new configuration,” said Alan Green with UBS Realty and Investors in the meeting. “So that’s how we teamed with United Properties who we believe is one of the most capable developers in the market.”
The council put approval of the plan on hold.
Mayor Shep Harris expressed a desire to see a plan that included housing to meet the city’s housing crunch.
“I would be favorable to putting this on hold,” said Harris. “Our staff is working with the applicant and UBS to see if there are some other type of opportunities like bringing some sort of housing and bringing that to a work session.”
