Under Pressure Brewing in Golden Valley Plans Oct. 2 Meterwurst Eating Contest
Under Pressure Brewing Co. in Golden Valley plans a meterwurst eating contest as part of its OktoBeerMeatFeast celebration, held Friday night and Saturday.
The eating contest takes place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The meter-long German sausage is donated by Nelson’s Deli in St. Louis Park. No professional eaters are allowed.
But just how long does it take to eat a meterwurst?
“We don’t like to push people and have them go extremely fast because we don’t want anybody choking and whatever,” said John Keenan, co-owner of Under Pressure Brewing. “But I would say the meterwurst is close to 20 minutes pushing maybe a half-hour.”
The deadline to register is Sept. 30.
Besides the eating contest, there will also be specialty beer and music Friday night and Saturday.
